This Bone made and entered into at Barney's River, this Twenty fourth day of February One Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty Eight, Between James Sutherland (William's son) of the one part, and John Sutherland his Brother of the other part, Both yeoman on the West Branch of Barney's River, for the County of Pictou and Province of Nova Scotia.

The nature of this Bond is such, That whereas a dispute had hitherto taken place between the said parties, Respecting the incumbrance of an acre of Land reserved by their Father in John's Deed and given to James by Deed.  Have this day mutually agreed to refer to William Hattie the Laying off the said acre, and affixing the Boundry between them in the most fair and equitable manner he shall Judge best to the advantage of both Parties, and said dispute no longer to exhist. Andy they hereby bind and oblige themselves, Their Heirs, Executors, Administrator's, and Assigns by said William Hattie, Under the Penal sum of Twenty Pounds Lawful Money of Nova Scotia Payable by the Party failing to the Party abiding. In Witness whereof they have subscribed and sealed these presents the day and year first before written
