"Mr. Basil McLellan has sold out his ice cream and confectionery business on Water Street to Mr. Edwin W. McDonald of Stellarton. Mr. McLellan, who conducted the business for about twenty years, intends leaving Pictou, and will be greatly missed, particularly in fraternal and musical circles, in which he took an active interest. Mr. McLellan is a promienent member of Eastern Star Lodge, No. 1. I.O.O.F., and last year was president of the Pictou Male Chorus."
Edwin W. McDonald later became fire chief of Pictou for six years, ran a salvage company, and opened an ice cream parlour and soda shop called Eddie's, located across from the Capitol theatre building on Water Street.
