Description

The gravestone of Thomas McLean is located in the Durham Cemetery (PD 01 in the Ritchie Cemetery Listings).

It reads:

"THOMAS

son of John & Janet McLean

who was drowned while bathing

10th Aug. 1840

In the 15th year of his age

What fond delusion holds us one and all

while midst our flowry schemes

we mortals fall and rise no more"
