John H McKay Album
This page consisits of a letter to the editor printed in the Colonial Standard, Pictou, 14 April 1885 from Populi, (J H M) River John, March 24th. Also a short article regarding the Plainfield community mentioning the Royal Rose Division, H H McKay returning from medical college at McGill, a bachelor in Meadowvale, and the poor health of JOhn Murray (Newton).
John H McKay was born in Plainfield, Pictou County to John and Barbara McLean McKay. He was the principal of River John schools and the Collector of Inland Revenue, Pictou. He married Bessie McLeod of River John. John H McKay was killed in the line of duty in Port Hood, Inverness County, 1890.
