Mrs. Mary Jane Francis
There passed away in her home on Pictou Landing Reserve, Monday morning, Dec. 3, Mrs. Mary Jane Francis, widow of the late Chief Francis, who predeceased her five years ago. She had been ill a short while and was 79 years of age.
She leaves to mourn their loss three sons, Rody, Andrew and Maurice, all living on the Reserve. Four daughters, (Bridget) Mrs. Tivilmot; (Janet) Mrs. Elliott of British Columbia; (Mathilda) Mrs. James Toney; (Martha) Mrs. Sandy Julian of Truro. One daughter (Lucy) predeceased her two years ago.
The funeral took place Wednesday morning from the Reserve Catholic Chuch in time for 9 o'clock requiem mass. Rev. Father Chaisson of Thorburn, was the celebrant. Alter boys were - Many friends came from different reserves in Nova Scotia to attend the funeral.
The beautiful floral tributes and mass cards showed the esteem in which she was held.
Mrs. Francis was well known in Pictou, where she was highly regarded by many friends; who heard of her death with sincere regret.
