Description
Orkney Island Chair, unique to the island is made from oat straw and wood.
This chair belonged to Margaret Brodie Dickie, a friend of the donors mother, Kaye Stewart MacKay. According to Margie MacKay, Margaret Dickie was born in Scotland and came to Canada as a war bride. This chair was one of the items she took with her. Mrs. Dickie was Margie MacKays grade primary/one teacher at Temperance Street School in 1957. Margie notes she was a tall lady with red hair and a wonderful Scottish accent.
