Simon Roderick Fraser is the son of James and Nancy Ann (McRae) Fraser of Toney River. His father is believed to have been born in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. His mother, the daughter of Alexander and Isabella McRae, was born at West River (Watervale) in 1822.
