Description
I have not been able to find the original story and poem published circa 1897, the year 1897, according to Alexander Hugh McQuarrie, the son of Allan and Catherine (McRae) McQuarrie. Relative Ethel Drummond of Manitoba only provided "1890s" as the approximate time the article was published. Ethel Drummond had a copy of the pen drawing of John McRae from the aforementioned article, so she must have had a copy of the article - but possibly without a published date on it.

Should anyone uncover the original article from the archives of the Pictou Advocate from 1897, please contact Teresa MacKenzie at the McCullouch House and Genealogy Centre.
