Robert Maclellan, principal of Pictou Academy, was born 14 July 1849 in Durham, NS to John Maclellan and Helen Hogg Maclellan. He married Martha Maria Fraser 1 January 1887. Robert Maclellan died 12 July 1922.

Robert Maclellans ancestors emigrated from Balcary, Scotland on the Lovely Nelly in 1775.
