Possilby Rachel Gertrude MacKenzie, born 10 August 1859 to Neil MacKenzie and Mary Laidlaw Aitcheson MacKenzie, Waterside, Pictou County, NS.  

Rachel married George Laird in 1883 in Charlestown, Middlesex County, Maine. They had eight children: James Andrew, Sydney Gordon, George William, Charles Higby, Eric Sutherland, Nelson Allen, Helen Dorthea and Melville Russell.  Rachel died 15 September 1944.
