Possible daughter of Alexander McKenzie and Christina McQuarrie McKenzie born 1834 Waterside, Pictou County, NS.  Granddaughter of Kenneth McKenzie and Isabel McAskil McKenzie.

Mary married Duncan Dewar, a miller, in 1864.  They lived at Dewars Mills, Wallace, Cumberland County, NS.  Their children were: Daniel, Christina, Alexander, John Hugh, James, Mary Belle and Kenneth.
