Description
Pictou Academy Classmates
Marna MacKenzie (seated on far left) and her older sister Georgina (standing second from left) were raised by Robert and Martha Maria Fraser MacLellan as their own children after Marias sister passed away.
Georgie and her younger sister Marna were orphaned at a young age. Their father died in 1874 and their mother in 1879.
The Pictou County Census for 1881 lists Georgina as 12 and Marna as 10 and living with their grandmother Anne in Hardwood Hill.
Marna left the Academy in 1888 and soon after married Isaac Gammell and eventually moved to Montreal.
Georgie became a nurse and worked in private care for many years. She never married.
