Hughena Ross and William Ryan were born in Pictou, Nova Scotia. Hughena moved to Boston to work as a ladies' maid where she met William.
William had ten siblings and was a blacksmith. He was born in 1850 and died 1921.
Hughena was the youngest of nine children. She died in 1890 and is buried in Medfield, Boston.
William remarried Evelyn B. Lamb, b. 1872 d. 1926
Hughena and William had five children: W. Herbert Ryan, b. 8/22/1880 - d. 2/24/1881; Maude Christine Ryan, b. 9/1/1878 - d. 2/21/1961; William Curtis Ryan, b. 2/18/1882 - d. 10/16/1939; Henry Watson Ryan (Harrison Ross Ryan) b. 9/20/1885 - d. 1918); Arthur Bliss Ryan, b. 8/15/1889 - d. 1952
