  By Mr. John, David Patterson we had a few hurried lines from miss Eliza Dawson there mentioned Mrs. Chapman’s children being all laid up with a bad cold which intensively prevalent in Pictou amongst.  I have been wishing anxiously for a letter from over since to let me know how you All are and if your mother has got quite clear of her cough.

Be very attentive, and Kind , to her and know you are *** and sincere in your love to your father and your mother and , Brother by your cheerful and ready obedience to all their commands and all their directions on every occasion , and be very careful of your bother be kind to him and that will make him love you and do as you would wish him and make companions of such good Boys as your father and mother approve of, and as you are constantly with him at school you have an opportunity of cautioning him from persons who will be glad enough to be friends with both you and him thought they care nothing about doing you any good.

I got some Savory seed to send you, But Thomas has put it all in the ground, and if the plants grow as well as they did year before last, I will send some for you , Uncle Thomas did not know what I got the send for till after it was grown. If an opportunity turns up I will try and send you a few seeds, but while the weather continues, so cold it is early enough for any good they would do in the ground.

The now goods are opening up and I suppose the up very rapidly and suppose the Pictou gentleman that get their supplies here will be coming down immediately so that you will have an opportunity of writing which hope you will not neglect remember me to Mrs. Chipman and miss Dawson and the children, to your father and mother and Thomas James tell him to write or print another letter and Aunt Mary would be glad to see a letter from you. I am very much gratified that your Uncle Mr. John Romans and your other relations are so well pleased with your letters continue my dear child to make progress  , under your kind fathers directions you will be prepared to act with *** and credit to yourself in whatever place or station gods providence may appoint you and be comfort to your Parents and making their hearts glad, when they see an ample return for all their care and pains bestowed in your Education , and my dear Elizabeth still try to remember that it is a good god who gives us life , and all that we proper pray for his helping and good keeping in all your ways and on all that belong to you  He direct young ones to “Remember their creator in the days of their youth and he tells young like you and your bother for their Encourage -ment” That they that seek to know him shall find him Grandfather is going with Capt.Larby to Sable Island for a few days and Uncle Thomas is also going away soon Grandfather only waits for a change of wind and then he will be off.
