Description
The gravestone of Alexander McKay and his wife Christian (née Cameron) McKay is located in the New Glasgow Riverside Cemetery (PN 01 in the Ritchie Cemetery Listings).
It reads:
"In memory of
ALEXANDER McKAY
Senion, who departed this life in May in 1840 in the 84th year of his
age. He was one of the first in habitants of this district, having been
a passenger in the Ship Hector which arrived at Pictou in 1775.
Also
of his wife CHRISTIAN who departed this life in December 1848.
She was a daughter of the late Alex Cameron of Lochbroom and was born in PEI in 1775."
