Estate of Donald C. Grant, late of New Road, Farmer, deceased, Testate
Certified Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds
In the name of God, Amen. I, Donald C. Grant, of New Road, in the County of Pictou, and Province of Nova Scotia, in Canada, Farmer, being weak in body, but perfectly sound in mind and memory- Do make and Declare this my Will and Testament.
First of all, I commend my Soul to God who gave it me, and I order my Body to be buried in a decent Christian manner.
Secondly - I grant and bequeath to my two Daughters viz - Annie F. and Margaret C. one hundred dollars of god and lawful money of Canada, each.
Thirdly - I grant and bequeath to my son John P. all and whole my share of one half of the Forth three acres, more or less, of land Situated at the rear of the land belonging to Donald Cameron, New Road, aforesaid, also Two hundred dollars in Canada currency, on his attaining the full age of twenty one years.
Fourthly - To Thomas D., my son I grant Three hundred dollars Canada currency - payable at such time, or times, and in such manner, as my Executrix and Executors consider best.
Fifthly - I grant and bequeath to my dearly beloved wife Mary F. Grant, all and whole, the Farm owned and occupied by me, extending to one hundred acres, more or less, together with all the Stock and farming implements, Dwelling house, and household goods and furniture, with all other moveable thereon, until my son James A. attain the age of Twenty one years, when he shall become joint owner, and occupant of the whole farm, and all thereupon, with his mother until her death that the whole property shall become his, the said James A. Grant, and his heirs for ever.
Sixthly - Any residue of my personal estate after paying my lawful debts and the money legacies under the second, third, and fourth sections of this Will, I order to be paid to my wife and son, the said James A. to be disposed of by their mutual agreement.
Seventhly - I nominate and appoint my said wife Mary F. Grant, my Executrix, with John A. Grant of New Road aforesaid Farmer(this word inserted - initialed on side) and George A. Douglas of New Glasgow in the County of Pictou, Merchant, my Executors.
In witness whereof I, the said Donald C. Grant Hath hereto set my hand and affixed my Seal this twenty first day of July A.D. one thousand eight hundred and eighty four.

CODICIL
In addition to the sum of one hundred dollars, devised to my daughter Annie F. under section second of my annexed Will and Testrament, I Grant and Bequeath to her, my Musical organ, as witness my hand this 21st. day of July 1884.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of two pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of Donald C. Grant late of New Road, in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
Given under my hand at Pictou, this tenth day of September A.D. 1884.
