Estate of Christy Fraser, late of Blanchard, Spinster, deceased, Testate

Certified Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds

Blanchard Nov. 2nd 1878

This is the last Will and Testament of Christy Fraser of Blanchard in the County of Pictou and Province of Nova Scotia, Farmer.  

1st. I commit my Soul to Almighty God for time and Eternity.

2nd. I devise and bequeath all the Real Estate to which I shall be entitled at the time of my Decease unto my Brother Donald without conditions on his part.

3rd. I devise that all the Personal Property to which I shall be entitled at my decease not including personal clothing be sold by my executors at Publick Sale or other ways as they may deem to the best advantage, my personal clothing and part of my bed clothing I bequeath in the following manner.

To Mrs. Finlay Fraser, one Black Homespun dress, To John my brothers wife one bed cover, & double Blanket, one single Blanket and one Chaff bed, also one Black woolen Skirt.

To Jessie, Johns daughter my blue Dress and mu own chest. To Johann my sister I bequeath the best of my mats & the rocking chair, table, Oil cloth cover, also one bed quilt and double blanket, one single blanket and Chaff bed, also my mothers chest and one of my Home made shawls, one linen sheet and table cloth, and flannel skirt, one orange skirt and my blk Coburg Dress, my blk luster Dress. I bequeath to Emalen Ross, Peter Ross' Daughter, my other Home made shawl, for John my brothers wife. To Mary my sister I bequeath my spinning wheel and the Clock, also the small wares in my trunks not mentioned here, to be divided between Mary and Johann, also for Mary one linen sheet and table cloth, the lamps and the looking glass & preserve dish for Johann my sister, the balance of the Dishes to be divided between her and Mary.

To Archy Fraser John my brothers son I bequeath the small red trunk and for John my brother 3 best Chairs and also for Johns wife one Home made shawl, one sheet and linen table cloth.

All other articles not already mentioned to be sold by the executors.

I further devise that my Executors after paying the expenses of a decent Christian Burial for me, and also all my lawful debts will provide for my Father and Mother a respectable Headstone to mark their last resting place, and also for myself a Headstone to mark my last resting place, both suitably inscribed, also to put on our Burying lot a respectable picket fence painted.

I further bequeath to the Foreign Mission of the Presbyterian Church of the lower Provinces all the money the executors may have of the proceeds of my Estate after complying with the above bequests for the benefit of the Heathen.

Lastly, I appoint Peter Ross, Elder, and William Fraser, Johns son Executors of this my  last Will and hereby revoking all other Testamentary writings, in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of two pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of Christy Fraser late of Blanchard in the County of Pictou, Spinster, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.

Given under my hand at Pictou this 21th day of September A.D. 1880.
