Roderick Fraser was born about 1847 at Abercrombie, Pictou County, Nova Scotia, the son of Hugh and Mary Fraser.  He was a Captain for the Quebec Steam Ship Company. 

Roderick, along with his siblings and parents, Hugh and Mary Fraser can be found in both the 1871 and the 1881 census at Albion Mines, Pictou County.
