Mrs. H. Munro Laid at Rest
Largely Attended Funeral – Many Floral Tributes
Rev. Dr. Maxwell MacOdrum, Presbyterian church minister, assisted by Rev. Lawrence B. Campbell, First United Church minster. Conducted a very beautiful funeral service on Monday afternoon when the late Mrs. Harry Munro was laid to rest.
Rev. Dr. MacOdrum during the (?) of his eloquence address referring to the long illness and sufferance of the deceased and intimated that since there was no possibility of deliverance from that hardship that she was comforted in the assurance that in (?)eath she was going to a higher and better reward. He referred to her fine Christian character, and commended the mourners to the comfort of christ.
The service was held at Mrs. Munro’s late residence, 40 Charlotte Street, where members of the Sydney Presbyterian church choir led in the signing of three hymns, particular favourites of the deceased. These were “Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling” “Nearer My God To Thee: and “Hark, Hark My Soul.” Rev. Mr. Campbell offered prayer and pronounced Benediction.
There was a wealth of magnificent floral tributes, bearing love and sympathy from a very wide circle of friends, as individuals and organizations.
The concourse of people was a lengthy one and slowly moved on to Hardwood Hill where burial took place, Rev. Mr. MacOdrum conducting the graveside committal service.
The pall bearers were John Sargent, J.H Fraser, John Sinclair, John Johnson, Gordon Graham, Alex MacLean.
