Estate of John Cruickshank late of Sunny Brae, Farmer, deceased, Testate

Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds

Know all men by these presents that I John Cruickshanks of Sunny Brae East River, Pictou County and Province of Nova Scotia, Farmer, being of sound disposing mind and memory, do make and and publish this my last Will and Testament.

First. I give and bequeath to my son James P. Cruickshank all of my homestead property that is my Real Property, the farm on which I now reside not deeded to his brother Daniel providing he maintains his mother my wife Catherine Cruickshank with all the necessaries of life as her rank in Society would warrant and one half of the dwelling house for her own use during her lifetime and bury her decent at death, and a home in the house for any of his sisters, if they need it.

Secondly. I give and bequeath to my son Daniel Cruickshank my son the Red Horse, and one Cow and no more.

Thirdly. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Catherine Cruickshank all the horned cattle, sheep, and household furniture and monies belonging to me to her own use.

Fourthly. I give and bequeath to James P. Cruickshank my son the two remaining horses and all the farming implements of every kind, Carriages, Harness, i.e.

Fifthly. I ordain and appoint Catherine Cruickshank, and A.D. Cruickshank my executors of this my Will.

In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal and published and declare this my last Will and Testament in the presence of the witnesses named below this 22nd Octr. A.D. 1898.

Signed Sealed published and declared by the said John Cruickshank as and for his last Will and testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of one page, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of John Cruickshank late of Sunny Brae in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
