Estate of David Colquhoun, late of Mount Thom, Farmer, deceased, Testate
Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds
In the name of God, Amen. The eleventh day of July in the year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and ninety four. I David Colquhoun of Mount Thom in the County of Pictou, Farmer, being of frail body but of perfect mind and memory, Thanks be unto God, and calling to mind the mortality of the body and that it is appointed for all men once to die, Do make and ordain this my last Will and testament, that is to say, principally and first of all, I give and commend my Soul to God who gave it, and my body I recommend to the earth, to be buried with a decent Christian burial at the discretion of my family and Executors and as touching such worldly Estate, as I am blessed with in this life, I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner.
First. I give and bequeath to my son John William Colquhoun the farm lot on which I now reside containing One Hundred and twenty two acres, more or less- with the buildings and appurtenances, thereto belonging, tenements, and the Farm I own, lying and situate west of a certain John McKay's farm lot, and containing one hundred and eighteen acres, more or less, and also of my personal effects. Plows and Harrows, mowing machine and rake, and also my bench tools and augars, and one Seat in St. Lukes Church at Saltsprings. Subject to the following conditions and considerations, that is to say- that he will take my beloved wife Mary Ann Colquhoun to his own house and furnish her with a comfortable room and bedroom, shall and will own and enjoy without let or encumbrances whatever from any person or persons during her lifetime, and also that said John William Colquhoun his Heirs and executors and administrators, shall and Will support and maintain my wife Mary Ann Colquhoun or find or provide for her sufficient meat, Drink, washing, lodging, apparel and attendance suitable for a person in her situation in life, for the time of her natural lifetime, also to pay her Five dollars in Cash yearly.
Second - I give and bequeath to my wife Mary Ann Colquhoun all the Balance o he personal property, at my demise, for her own benefit and use.
Third- I bequeath and ordain that the said John William Colquhoun and my wife Mary Ann Colquhoun will pay an equal share of all my just, and legal debts at my demise.
Fourth - I bequeath and ordain that the aforesaid John William Colquhoun shall furnish provide and Erect at the head of my Grave a decent and respectable Headstone neatly cut and engraved and finished at the top with an Arch in emblem of the Royal Arch of the orange order. I do hereby utterly disallow all former Wills and testaments, legacies, bequeaths, and executors by me in any ways before names, willed, and bequeathed, ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament.
I hereby nominate and appoint Alexander McKay of Mount Thom in the County of Pictou, and Edward Davis of the same place, and County, as my joint executors of this my last Will and Testament.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of two pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of David Colquhoun late of Mount Thom in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
