"FOUR GENERATIONS
Above are four generations of a Pictou family who had a reunion in Pictou about two weeks ago. Right is Edmund Watt, well-known business man of Pictou who retired recently from active business at the age of ninety. At the left is his son, Arthur Watt, mathematician with the National Insurance Company of Montpelier, Vermont. Centre rear is A. MacKenzie Watt, son of Arthur Watt, secretary-treasurer of Wood Bros., Halifax, and standing between his grandfather and great-grandfather is Mr. Watt's son, Robert MacKenzie Watt."
From the Pictou Advocate, July 18, 1946, page 4
Edmund Watt ran a men's furnishing store from 1908-1943 on Water Street (in the I.O.O.F. building). Before that, he was a trunk and harness maker, operating a store along Market Square from 1876 to 1899 (although he had been manufacturing trunks and harness for four years prior to the opening of the shop). He's originally from Hedgeville, the son of John Watt and Hannah Hynds.
