Mary Mackay born 1874, was the daughter of William Mackay and granddaughter of Roderick McLennan.
Roderick McLennan assumed the alias of Alexander Mackay when he escaped the British Navy in 1812 and came to Pictou.
Mary was the niece of Mary Mackay Pitts.
Mary Pitts and Mary Mackay were instrumental in organizing and operating the Women’s Patriotic Association of Newfoundland.
