MR. GEORGE E. GUNN.
At Plainfield, December 5th, 1920, George E. Gunn passed away to his eternal rest, aged 67 years, after a prolonged and painful illness, which he bore with exemplary patience and fortitude. He was an honored elder in the Presbyterian Church at the West Branch of River John, and took a deep interest in the Christian Endeavour and Sabbath School at Plainfield until laid aside with severe illness over three years ago. His faith in Jesus was firm to the end. There was a very large funeral in spite of the inclemency of the weather and muddy roads. People came from near and far to pay their last tribute of respect to one who left many friends but no enemy. The services were conducted by Rev. Mr. McInnes, of West Branch, and Rev. Mr. Forbes, of Scotsburn. The remains were laid to rest in the Scotsburn cemetery.
Besides his infant son, who predeceased him thirty years ago, there are left to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father a surviving widow, one son and seven daughters. The son is Thomas, on the farm. The daughters are Mrs. John R. McLeod, of Plainfield; Mrs. Geo. R. McKenzie, South Bend, Washington; Mrs. Eugene Whor, Boston, Mass; Miss Mary- a trained nurse, who came home from Boston and nursed her father day and night during his prolonged illness - Misses Mabel and Georgie, teachers and Dorothy, at home. He also left one sister and four brothers.
