Estate of Catherine Cameron, late of Lime Rock, deceased, Testate

Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds

In the name of God, Amen.

The sixth day of January in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and eighty two. I Catherine Cameron of Lime Rock of the west River in the County of Pictou, being of weak body but of perfect mind memory and Judgement thanks be given to God, therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all people once to die, Do make and ordain this my last Will and testament. First and that principally I give and covenant my Soul into the hand of Almighty God that gave it, and my body I covenant to the earth to be buried with a decent Christian burial, at the discretion of my executor and friends nothing doubting, but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God, and as to touching such worldly effects, estate, and property wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with in this life,

I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner. First. I give and bequeath to my only daughter Betsey Ann Norrie Cameron, all the property and effects, I own and possess, namely my lands, tenements, buildings, Cattle and Cash, either in money, Promissory notes and Bank cheques, together with all my furniture, Household goods and whatever other property I own.

Secondly, I appoint and ordain Margaret MacKay of Lime Rock of said west River in the County of Pictou aforesaid Guardian of my said daughter until she retains her majority.

Thirdly, I give, bequeath and ordain that in the event of the death of my said daughter Betsey Ann Norrie Cameron, occurring before she is Eighteen years of age, I give and bequeath to the said Margaret MacKay my beloved friend all my property, Cattle, tenements, Household goods, Cash either in promissory notes and Bank cheques, with all the other articles that may remain after paying all the expenses of nursing and bringing up my said daughter, the same to be possessed and enjoyed without let or hindrance by my friend the said Margaret MacKay.

Fourthly, I will and ordain that all my just debts be paid out of my estate by my said executor that will be afterwards named.

Fifthly, I hereby nominate and appoint William Howard MacKay of said West River in the County of Pictou, aforesaid, mu Sole executor of this my said last Will and Testament, and I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke, and disannul all and every other former wills and Testaments, legacies, bequests, and executors by me in any wise made, and named willed and bequeathed, ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament.
