Painted by Elizabeth Carson MacLellan in 1912, wife of H Clinton MacLellan.
An article printed in the Pictou Advocate in 1911 states:
"Belleville Farm" - 180 acres. Owned by Judge Fogo - Barrister at Law, Judge of Probate. House is a classical villa after the Tuscan manner and was built by the proprieter in 1854. It is beautifully situated and affords a most commanding view of the surrounding country. The scene which is presented to the spectator in a summer day when shippin gin the harbour is brisk and vessels of all descriptions are plying to and fro upon its waters, is one of an exceedingly pleasing and animated character and presents a panorama which is rarely equalled and difficult to surpass.
This painting was donated to the Heritage Society of Pictou, NS on April 1977 by Mrs Norman Anderson, nee Morna MacLellan
Personal note by Mrs Norman Anderson regarding Fogo House:
An enchanting place where we spent the summer as children, played "house" in the lilac hedges, went swimming in the cove below and had picnics in the Bay View Cemetery! Mr & Mrs James Campbell occupied part of the house as "Uncle Jim" had charge of the care of the quarry which also belonged to Judge Fogo.
