Province of Nova Scotia} Registrars Office Pictou 7th January 1839 I do certify that the within Instrument was registered at 11 oclock AM of the above day in Liber 22 folio 80 on the oath of John Holmes a subscribing witness pursuant to law

This Indenture made the twenty third day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & thirty six Between James McIntosh of Cameron's Mountain so called District of Pictou & Province of Nova Scotia yeoman & Catharine his wife of the one part & Robert Culton of the East River District and Province aforesaid on the other part Witnesseth that the said James McIntosh & Catherine his wife for and in consideration of the sum of Fifty pounds good & lawful money of this Province aforesaid to them in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have sold bargained aliened enfeoffed conveyed granted & confirmed & by & by these presents do sell bargain alien enfeoff convey grant & confirm unto the said Robert Culton his heirs & assigns all that certain tract or lot of land situate lying & being on the first division the east side of the East Branch of the East River aforesaid & is abutted & Bounded as follows to wit beginning at the south east angle of a lot of land conveyed by a certain Finlay McIntosh to a certain Finlay Fraser from thence to run east along the original line between the said Finlay McIntosh on certain Robert Grant one hundred & seventy rods or to the lot of William McLean Tailor thence north by said lot ninety rods or to the lot of the heirs of the late William McIntosh thence west by said lot one hundred & seventy rods or to the said lot of Finlay Fraser & thence south by the said lot to the place of beginning containing seventy acres more or less with all & singular the houses barns

barns stables ways waters woods com-- tenements & heriditaments there to belonging or in any wise appurtaining with the reversion & reversions remainder & remainders unto issues & profits there of with all the estate right title interest claim property and demand of them the said James McIntosh & Catherine his wife which they now have or here after may have in to or upon the said described lands & premises with the appurtenances to Have & to Hold the said described lands & premises  to him the said Robert Culton his heirs and assigns to his & their own use benefit & behoof forever  And the said James McIntosh for himself his heirs executors & administrators doth by these presnets covenant & agree to & with the said Robert Culton his heirs executors administrators & assigns in manner & form following that is that he the said James McIntosh & his heirs the lands & premises above described unto the said Robert Culton his heirs and assigns will warrant & forever defend.

In Witness whereof the said James McIntosh & Catherine his wife do to these presents set their hand & seals day & date as first above written

Personally appeared before me the subscriber being one of her Majestys Justices of the Peace for District of Pictou Catherine wife of the within named James McIntosh who being examined by me separate & apart from her said husband acknowledged that she signed & sealed the foregoing Deed of her own free will and accord & that she did thereby remise release & forever grant claim of the lands and premises therein described with regard to forever and otherwise.   John Holmes J.P.
