This indenture made this tenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty right Between Rachel Lowden of Pictou in the County of Pictou and Province of Nova Scotia, widow of the late Thomas Lowden of the one part and John Yorston, James Crichton, and George Campbell esquire all of Pictou aforesaid Trustees of Pictou properly for the said county of Pictou duly appointed by the government of the Province of Nova Scotia of the other part.
Witnesseth that in consideration of the sum of thirty pounds lawful money of the province of Nova Scotia to the said Rachel Lowden in hand well and truly paid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, she the said Rachel Lowden Hath granted, bargained, sold, aliened, remised, released enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell alien, remise, release enfeoff and confirm unto the said John Yorston, James Crichton, and George Campbell esquire, Trustees as aforesaid and their successors in office for the time being the following lot of land situate in the town of Pictou and bounded as follows. Beginning on the north side line of Prince Street at the south east corner of William Edmonds East line eighty five feet six inches or until it comes to the south line of Michael Whetons land, thence east along said south line and the south lien of James Brennan’s land forty six feet to the north west corner of William Campbells land thence south along the west line of the last mentioned land eighty five feet six inches or unto it comes to the north side line of the street aforesaid thence west along said street forty six feet to the place of beginning with all the improvements, privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion and reversions, remainder and remainders, rents, issues and profits, thereof, and also all the estate, right, title, property, interest, claim and demand of the said Rachel Lowden of in to or upon the same to have and to hold the same to them the said John Yorston, James Crichton, and George Campbell esquire as trustees ass aforesaid in thrust for the benefit and use od the Public and not to themselves personally their heirs or assigns or to their own private or individual use benefit or behoof.
And the said Rachel Lowden for herself her heris executors and administrators doth hereby covenant promise and agree to and with the said John Yorston, James Crichton, and William Campbell esquire trustees as aforesaid and their successors in office for the time being that she hath good right full power and lawful authority to sell and convey the lot of land above described, with its appurtenances in manner and form as the same is above sold and conveyed and that she the said Rachel Lowden and her heirs the same unto them the said John Yorston, James Crichton and George Campbell esquire Trustee as aforesaid and their successors in office, shall and will warrant and maintain and forever defend.
