This indenture made the thirty first day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety two Between Angus Grant of Pictou in the County of Pictou, Master Mariner and Elizabeth Grant his wife of the one part, and Sarah Thorne Gallant of Pictou in the County of Pictou wife of Charles Gallant of Pictou aforesaid, Trader of the other Part.
Witness that the said Angus Grant and Elizabeth Grant his wife for and inconsideration of Six hundred dollars of lawful money of Canada to the said Alexander Grant in hand well and truly paid by the said Sarah Thorne Gallant at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained sold, aliened, enfeoffed, released, remised, conveyed, and confirmed and by these presents DO grant, bargain, sell, alien, enfeoff, release, remise, convey and confirm, unto the said Sarah Thorne Gallant her heirs and assigns, ALL that certain lot piece or parcel of land situate on the east side of Crichton Street in the Town of Pictou and abutted bounded and described as follows: Beginning at a piece of land being the south west corner of lands formerly owned by the lots of Hector McMillian and bounded as follows on the north by the said land, of the late Hector McMillian, on the east by the water of Pictou Grantor, on the South by Land belonging to Hugh Munro and on the West By Creighton Street aforesaid and the buildings, hereditaments, easements, and appurtenances to the same belonging, and the reversions, remainders, rents, issues and profits thereof, and all the estate, right, title, interest, property claim and demand of the said Angus Grant and of him the said Elizabeth Grant his wife in right of dower or otherwise of in as to the same. To have and to hold the said above granted and described land and premises with the appurtenances, unto, and to the use of the said Sarah Thorne Gallant, her heirs and assigns forever. And the said Angus Grant for himself his heirs, executors and administrators, doth hereby covenant with the said Sarah Throne Gallant her heirs and assigns: - that he the said Angus Grant a good, sure, perfect and indefeasible estate of inheritance in fee simple in the said land and premises and hath also good right, full power and absolute authority to grant and convey the same in manner and form aforesaid according to the true intent and meaning hereof
And also that the said Sarah Thorne Gallant and her heirs and assigns, shall and may at all times hereafter, peaceably and quietly, hold and enjoy the said lands and premises, with the appurtenances, without hindrance or disturbance of, from or by the said Angus Grant or any person or persons whomsoever lawfully claiming the same, or any part thereof and also that the said Angus Grant and his heirs, the said land and premises unto the said Sarah Thorne Gallant and her Heirs and assigns against the lawful claims and demands of all persons shall and will by these presents Warrant and forever defend

Be it remembered that on this thirty first day of May 1892 before me the subscriber, personally came and appeared Elizabeth Grant wife of Angus Grant mentioned in the foregoing Indenture, who having been by me examined separate and apart from her said husband did declare and acknowledge that she executed the said Indenture, as and for her act and deed, without fear, threat or compulsion, of from or by her said husband, and for a full release of all her claims to the land therein described.
