This indenture made this fifth day of April in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and forty two between Thomas Johnston of Pictou in the County of Pictou and Province of Nova Scotia farmer of the one part and Jacob Miner of Pictou, County and Province aforesaid farmer of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said Thomas Johnston for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and forty pounds lawful money of the province aforesaid to him in hand paid by the said Jacob Miner at or before the sealing or delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath, granted, bargained, sold, enfeoffed, released, and confirmed and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, enfeoff, release and confirm unto the said Jacob Miner that heirs and assigns all that certain lot or parcel of land partly covered with water, situate and being about the center of the front of the Town of Pictou and abutted bounded and described as follows that is to say beginning at the East Side of a lane or way, running from Water Street unto the Harbour of Pictou between the Properties of the late Daniel Miner and Robert Dawson of the Southwest corner of a lot sold to and in possession of William Corbet, thence south twenty two degrees West along the East side of said Lane or way three hundred and sixty feet more or less, thence south sixty two degrees east thirty six feet more or less to the property thence hundred and sixty feet more or less to the first mentioned lot belonging to the said William Corbet thence north sixty five degrees west to the place of beginning together with all and singular the, ways, waters, water courses, buildings, improvements, privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or thereto generally used and occupied particularly a right title estate claim property and demand which he the said Thomas Johnston nor hath or hereafter may have to me or upon the same to have and to hold the said lot piece or parcel of land and water and premises above described and set forth with the appurtenances unto the said Jacob Miner his heirs and assigns to his and their own benefit and behoof forever and the said Thomas Johnston for himself his executors and administrators doth by these presents grant covenant premise and agree to and with the said Jacob Miner his executors administrators and assigns in manner and form following that is to say that he the said Thomas Johnston and his heirs the said lot piece or parcel of land and water above described and every part and parcel thereof to the said Jacob Miner his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims and demands of al land every person or persons whomsoever, all warrant and forever defend, by these presents. In witness whereof the parties to these presents have hereunto defend, by these presents seals the day and year above written.

Received on the day of the date of the foregoing indenture from the therein named Jacob Miner the sum of one hundred and forty pounds being the full consideration money therein mentioned.

Personally appeared before me the subscriber one of her Majesty’s Justices of the Peace for the county of Pictou James Sutherland who is a subscribing witness to the executor of the foregoing indenture who being duly sworn deposed that he was presents and did the same executed by the said party whom named and subscriber thereto for the purpose therein set forth and contained.
