Estate of Duncan Matheson late of Wilkin's Grant, Farmer, deceased, Testate
Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds
In the name of God, Amen. I, Duncan Matheson of Wilkin's Grant, in the County of Pictou, Province of Nova Scotia, Elder, being of perfect mind and memory, thanks be to God for the same and knowing that it is appointed for all men to die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament, that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul unto the hand of Almighty God who gave it, and my body I commend to the earth to be buried in a decent Christian burial, nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Almighty Power of God, and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life I order that my just and legal debts shall be paid out of my personal property.
2nd. I will and devise unto Neil Matheson my son and to his heirs the whole of the Real property on which I now reside together with all my farming implements stock carriages ie. which I now have at the time of my death also the whole of my house furniture owned by me.
I give and bequeath unto Hugh Donald my son the sum of Forty Dollars.
I give and bequeath unto my son John James the sum of Sixty Dollars.
I give and bequeath unto my daughter Margaret Matheson a maintenance suitable to her station in life to be awarded unto and for her from my son Neil Matheson provided always that if she changes her situation in life by marriage or otherwise that he the said Neil Matheson shall provide her with such portion of Goods, as did my other daughters, and that if her present situation remains that she shall have a separate Dwelling House if she so Desires and the keeping an maintaining for her sole use and benefit one cow she to have her choice of all my Cows.
I further order and give unto Neil Matheson all the remaining property of a personal nature which may be owned by me or that I may possess at the time of my decease.
I hereby constitute, make and ordain William Matheson my son of Fox Brook and John Fraser my son in law Executors of this my Last Will and testament. And I do utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former Testaments, Wills Legacies bequests and Executors by me in any wise named Willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament.
In witness whereof I have hereto my name subscribed and Seal affixed this Second day of March in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy One..

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of two pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of Duncan Matheson late of Wilkin's Grant, in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
Given under my hand at Pictou this 25th. day of July A.D. 1879.
