Description J. Dawson to Alvin Craig

This indenture made this sixth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and one. Between Jane Dawson of the City of Winnipeg in the Province of Manitoba Widow, George H. Elliott and John A. Dawson both of the Town and County of Pictou in the Province of Nova Scotia esquire executrix and executors of the last will and testament of R. Smith Dawson late of Pictou aforesaid merchant deceased and herein after called the vendors of the one part and Alvin I. Craig of Pictou in the County of Pictou and Province aforesaid merchant of the other part.

Witnesseth that the said Vendors for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifteen dollars of lawful money of Canada to them in hand well and truly paid by the said Alvin I. Craig at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have and each of them hath, granted, bargained, sold, aliened, released, remised, conveyed, and confirmed, and by these presents do and each of them doth, grant, bargain, sell, alien, release, remise, convey and confirm unto the said Alvin I. Craig his heirs and assigns all that certain lot piece or parcel of land and land covered with water owned by the said R. Smith Dawson deceased at the time of his death and situate lying and being on and in the harbour of Pictou and in the Town and County of Pictou abutted, bounded and described as follows:

Bounded on the north by the lands of the Branch of the Intercolonial Railway running into the Town of Pictou on the part by land and land covered with water at one time owned by John T. Ives now deceased, on the south by land in the waters of the harbour of Pictou and on the east by land now or formerly owned by one William Ives the above described lot being all that lot of land and land covered with water belonging to the estate of the late R. Smith Dawson decreased on the south side of the Town Branch of the interconial railway running unto the town of Pictou together with all and singular, the houses, outhouses, barns, buildings, ways, water, watercourses, easements, privileges and appurtenances to the same belonging or in anywise appertaining and the reversion and reversions, remainder and remainders, rents, issues, and profits thereof and also all the estate right, title, interest, property, claim, and demand of them the said Vendors of, in, to or out of the same or any part thereof to have and to hold the said lot of land and land covered with water, and premises with the appurtenances and every part thereof unto the said Alvin I. Craig his heirs and assigns to his and their sole use, profit and behoof forever.

And the said vendors do hereby for themselves their heirs and executors and administrators promise and agree to and with the said Alvin I. Craig his heirs and assigns that they the said vendors have not, nor have any or either of them at any time hereto or done or suffered or knowingly permitted to be done or suffered or knowingly permitted to be done or suffered, any act matter or thirst whatsoever, whereby the said land and land covered unto the water and premises hereby granted and conveyed or any part thereof is or can be impeached, changed, or encumbered in title estate or otherwise heresoever.

In witnesseth whereof the parties to these presents hereto their hands and seals set and affixed on the day and year first above written.

On this sixth day of June A.D. 1901 before me John Graham the subscriber Notary Public by the authority duly admitted and sworn residing and practicing at Winnipeg aforesaid personally came and appeared Alexander Scott Dawson of Winnipeg aforesaid a witness to the foregoing Indenture and made oath that Jane Dawson therein named the executor under will of R. Smith Dawson deceased and a party thereto duly executed the same in his presence which I hereby certify:

In testimony whereof I the said Notary have hereto my hand subscribed and seal of office affixed on the day and year aforesaid.

On this twenty day of July A.D. 1902 before me the subscribing witness to the foregoing indenture and made oath that George H. Elliott and John A. Dawson as subscribed witness to the foregoing indenture and made oath that George H. Elliott and John A. Dawson executors f the parties to the foregoing indenture duly executed the same in his presence which I certify.
