Description James Haggart to Alexander Haggart

This indenture made the seventh day of January in the year our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty. Between James Haggart of Merigomish in the County of Pictou farmer of the one part and Alexander Haggart of Merigonish in the County aforesaid Farmer.

Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of forty Pounds of lawful money of Nova Scotia to the said James Haggart in hand well and truly paid by him the said Alexander Haggart at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged he the said James Haggart Hath granted bargained sold aliened remised Doth grant bargained sell/align remise release enfeoff and confirm unto the said Alexander Haggart his Heirs and Assign all that certain lot piece or parcel of land situate and being in the third division of lands in Merigomish aforesaid bounded as follows that is to say bounded on the west by lands of Walter Smith, on the North by the road leading through the Valley of Predominate on the East by lands of Donald Grant and on the South by the rear line of the said third division containing alight one acres more or less, with all the Houses, Barns, Buildings, ways, waters, watercourses, improvements hereditaments, privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the remainder and remainders reversion and reversions, rents, issues and profits thereof and also all the estate, right, title, property, interest, claim and demand of him the said James Haggard of in to and upon the said lands and premises with the appurtenances. To have and to hold the said lot of land and premises with the appurtenances unto him the said Alexandra Haggart his Heirs, executors, administrators and Assigned in manner following that is to say that he the said James Haggart at the time of executing these presents is and Hands signed of a good and sufficient estate in fee simple of an in the lot of land and premise above described with the appurtenances and that he hath good right full power and lawful authority to sell and convey the same in manner and form as the same are here in and hereby sold and conveyed and also that he the said James Haggart and his heirs the said lot of Land and premise with the appurtenances unto him the said Alexander Haggart his Heirs and assigns against the lawful claims and demands of all and every person and persons whomsoever shall and will  warrant maintain and forever defend.

This day personally appeared before me Nathaniel Copeland and Esq, of her majesty’s justice of the peace for the county of Pictou Nathaniel Copeland a subscribing witness to the foregoing Deed of Indenture, who being duly forever,  defend that he was present and face the forgoing deed duly executory
