My Dear Duncan
We are this far on our way to Cromarty after disposing of every article which we had except our clothes and as we are informed there is a ship to be at Cromarty on the 11th or 12 of this month to sail for America and as we are determined to take the first opportunity I beg youwill not lose a moment when this comes to hand in coming to Cromarty to see us as we have been obliged to take bills for so much of our little subject you will bring any little money you can collect as we must leave the bills with you in case you cannot come let Johny come as I cannot do without seeing one of you so that one of you will not lose an hour in coming to Cromarty on receipt of this letter.
I remain Dear Boys
yours till Death
William Maxwell
