“This indenture made this thirteenth day of September in the year of Our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and fifty six between Alexander Ross Junior of the Green Hill of Pictou in the County of Pictou, farmer, of the one part and Alexander Ross Senior of the Green Hill of Pictou and County aforesaid Farmer of the other part.

Witnesseth that the said Alexander Ross Junior for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred pounds of lawful money of Nova Scotia to him in hand will and truly paid by the said Alexander Ross Senior at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged Hath granted, bargained, sold, aliened, enfeoffed, remised, released, and confirmed, and by these presents Doth grant, bargain, sell, alien, enfeoff, remise, release and confirm unto the said Alexander Ross Senior and to his Heirs and assigns forever all that certin piece or parcel of land lying at Green Hill aforesaid and Beginning at a stake and heap of stones on the line dividing the land of the said Alexander Ross Junior from the lands of one Robert McLean and on the south boundary of the road leading from Green Hill aforesaid to the line rock at West River and to run from thence south one hundred and sixty six rods, thence west sixty eight rods thence south fifty one rods thence east one hundred and eleven rods thence north one hundred and fifty rods thence east eighty three rods thence north ninety six rods twenty links to the aforesaid road thence westerly along the south boundary of said road to the place of beginning containing one hundred and thirty six acres more or less together with all and singular the tenements, [hendatments?] and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion and reversions yearly and other rents issues and profits thereof and of every pact thereof, and also all the estate rights, title interest, claim property, possession and demand whatsoever, as well in law as in equity of him the said Alexander Ross Junior of in or to the above described property and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances to Have and to Hold all and singular the above mentioned and described premises together with the appurtenances unto the said Alexander Ross Senior, his heirs and assigns forever Provided always nevertheless and this the true intent and meaning of these presents and the party thereto that if the said Alexander Ross Junior or his Heirs or Administrators do and shall will and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Alexander Ross Senior the just and lawful sum of three hundred pounds of lawful money of Nova Scotia within ten years from the day of the date hereof in ten yearly instalments of thirty pounds cash as follows. [Viz?] written one year from the date hereof thirty pounds within two years thirty pounds and until the tenth year from the date hereof this the year one thousand eight hundred and sixty six when the whole three hundred pounds shall be paid agreeable to the conditions of a certain bond or obligation made by the said Alexander Ross Junior to the said Alexander Ross Senior duly executed and bearing even date herewith Then these presents and every matter and thing herein contained shall cease determine and be wholy void And the said Alexander Junior doth hereby covenant promise and again to and with the said Alexander Ross Senior his Executors, Administrators and assigns that he the said Alexander Ross Junior or his Executors or Administrators shall and will will and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Alexander Ross Junior, his Executors, Administrators or assigns the principle money hereinbefore mentioned at the times and in the manner aforesaid, and also that at the delivery hereof he the said Alexander Ross Junior is lawful owner of all and every part of the above described premises with the appurtenances and is seized of a good and sufficient Estate of [interduce?]  therein clear of all [incureberance?] whatsoever of every name or nature.
