Estate of William D. Sutherland late of New Glasgow, Farmer deceased, Testate
Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds
I William D. Sutherland at present of New Glasgow in the County of Pictou but formerly of Quarry Island said County, Farmer, Do hereby publish and declare this my last Will and Testament at the same time revoking all Wills by me at anytime heretofore made.
I direct my executor hereinafter named to pay all my just debts, the funeral expenses and the expenses attended upon the settlement of my Estate.
I give and bequeath to each of my daughters Margaret Ann wife of Henry Thompson, Janet Maria wife of Robert Keith of Albion Mines said County, Merchant, and Tena B. wife of George Grant of Little Harbor in said County Farmer, the sum of Seventy five dollars each.
I give in bequeath to my wife Ann D. Sutherland the sum of Two hundred dollars, and to her also I give and bequeath the sole use and occupation of that certain lot of land bounding on Nelson street in said New Glasgow upon which I now reside and of the houses, buildings, and appurtenances thereto belonging to have and to hold the same to her before and during the term of her natural life. I also give and bequeath to my said wife all the household furniture and personal effects situate in said house in which I now reside.
I give devise and bequeath to my son James W. Sutherland and to his heirs forever, my farm at Quarry Island aforesaid together with all the stock thereon and the quarrying tools, and utensils and all the household furniture in the house upon said farm saving and excepting only from said furniture one organ which I do hereby give and bequeath to my said daughter Tena B. Grant.
I direct my executor hereinafter named upon the death my said wife to sell and dispose of my said house and lot at New Glasgow and do hereby give my executor full power and lawful authority to dispose of said lands and to give a valid deed or deeds thereof.
The residue of my estate including the purchase money of said house and lot at New Glasgow after payment of all my just debts funeral and other expenses and the legacies hereinbefore mentioned (which legacies I direct my executor to pay as soon as may be after my decease) I give and bequeath in equal shares to my threw daughters hereinbefore named and James my son Quarry Island.
I hereby appoint and nominate Michael C. Olding of Woodburn in the said County , Farmer, Executor of this my last Will and Testament.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto my hand and seal subscribed and set this twentieth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety four.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of two pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of William D. Sutherland late of New Glasgow, in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
Given under my hand at Pictou this 29th. day of October A.D. 1898.
