Estate of William Sutherland late of Carriboo Harbour, deceased, Testate

Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds

This is the last Will and Testament of me William Sutherland of Cariboo Harbour in the County of Pictou, N.S.

First, I give device to my beloved wife the one half of the Farm that I now reside on containing Fifty acres more or less, being the east side of my said farm running from front or Shore tat said Cariboo Harbor along the land of Alexander Sutherland till the rear of my said farm to have and to hold the same during her natural life, Also the use of two rooms on the West side of my House, also the use of one cow and Six sheep.

Second, I give devise and bequeath to my eldest son James Robert Sutherland the remaining half of my farm containing fifty acres, more or less to have and to hold the same to him and his heirs forever, Also at the death of my beloved wife Hazel Sutherland I give device and bequeath to my said son James Robert Sutherland that half bequeathed to my beloved wife as aforesaid during her natural life subject to the following conditions, that is to say, that my said son James Robert Sutherland will work this and 50 acres for his mother and support her during her natural life and furnish her with suitable fuel and supply of provisions for the use of the rest of my beloved children until they become of age to make a living for themselves to have and to hold the same to him and his heirs forever.

Lastly I give and bequeath to James R. Sutherland all my said farming implement and farm stock with all the residue of my property of whatsoever nature after the payment of my just debts and funeral expenses.

And I nominate and appoint Daniel Munro and John R. Dobeson Esqr. executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all others and former will.

In witness whereof I have hereunto my hand and Seal Subscribed and Set Cariboo this twenty seventh day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Eighty five.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of One & a half pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of William Sutherland late of Carriboo Harbour, in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
