Certified Copy of Will for Reg of Deeds Pictou

This is the last Will and Testament of me William Sutherland of Cariboo Harbor in the County of Pictou.

First I give, devise and bequeath to my son Alexander Sutherland fifty acres of the farm on which I now I now reside on situated on Cariboo Harbor aforesaid, which fifty acres are to be laid off on the west side of the farm to have and to hold the same to him and his heirs forever, subject to and chargeable with the maintenance and support in boarding and lodging of his sister Nancy during her natural life or as long as she remains single or make her home with him in the house that I now reside on and is on the said fifty acres.

Second. I give devise and bequeath to my son John Kenneth Sutherland the remaining fifty acres on the east side of the farm that I now reside on to be laid off from front to rear, to have and to hold the same to him and his heirs forever, subject to the payment of one hundred dollars to be paid in installments as my executors see fit or as they require it from time to time for the use of my daughter Nancy Sutherland aforesaid for her use and her heirs forever.

Third. I give and devise to my third daughter Jessy Leslie the sum of Twenty dollars and the use of four sheep to be kept on the place by my said sons Alexander and John K. Sutherland.

Fourth. I give and devise to my eldest daughter Christy McKenzie the sum of one dollar. Also I give and devise to my son Donald Sutherland one dollar. I give devise to my son William Sutherland the sum of one dollar.

Lastly I give and bequeath all my stock and farming utensils to my two sons Alexander and John Kenneth Sutherland to be equally divided between them after the payment of my debt and funeral expenses.

And I nominate and appoint James Sutherland of Cariboo and Donald Leslie of Pictou, Esqr., executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all other and former Wills.

In witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seal subscribed and set at Cariboo the twelfth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven.
