Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds

In the name of God Amen.

I John Simpson farmer of eight Mile brook, County of Pictou, and Province of Nova Scotia, being of sound disposing mind and memory do and ordain this my last Will and Testament.

First and principally I commend my Soul to God and my body to the grave in the full hope of a glorious resurrection and as concerning such worldly goods as it has pleased God to cause to fall to my lot, I give devise and bequeath to my wife Janet the farm at Eight Mile Brook with the buildings thereon, to have and to hold for herself and her heirs forever.

I give devise and bequeath also to my wife Janet all my personal property consisting of cows, household furniture, two shares with Saltspring Bank and some notes of hand.

I require that my adopted daughter Minnie shall have a home with my wife Janet whatever time she chooses to avail herself of the same so long as my adopted daughter Minnie shall remain unmarried during the life of my wife Janet.

I appoint Alexander T. Rettie of Eight Mile Brook, and John Gass also of eight Mile Brook Executors of this my last Will and testament.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of one page, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of John Simpson late of Eight Mile Brook, in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
