Estate of John Mitchell late of Merigomish, Farmer, deceased, Testate

Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds

In the name of God, Amen.

I John Mitchell farmer, of Merigomish, County of Pictou, Province of Nova Scotia, being sound in mind memory and understanding not knowing what a day or an hour may bring forth. I take this opportunity to arrange my temporal affairs, and make and this my last Will and Testament, in the manner and form following –

1St. I direct the after named executors to pay all my lawful debts, dues, and demands and funeral expenses and the expenses out of my personal property and all other contingent expenses.

2nd. I direct my Executors to erect a monument and railing over my grave in my lot, the same to cost one hundred and twenty Dollars.

3rd. I bequeath my watch and chain and gold ring to my Sister Margaret.

4th. Thomas M. Copeland to receive one dollar 25/100 for every day employed putting in and taking off the crops on my farm, one third of the Hay given to said Thomas M. Copeland for taking off and putting in the Barn all to be paid from the property.

5th. The remaining property to be divided equally between the relations, viz my Father David Mitchell my mother Eliza Mitchell my Brother Charles Mitchell and my Sisters Margaret J. Copeland and Martha Copeland and Eliza Mitchell.

I nominate as my Executors James Mitchell and Thomas M. Copeland, whom I order and direct to have this will legally executed.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of one page, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of John Mitchell, late of Merigomish in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.

Given under my hand at Pictou this 3rd. day of February A.D. 1888.
