Will of William N. Mills, deceased

This is the last Will and Testament of me, William N. Mills of Truro in the County of Colchester, Watchmaker.
1. I direct my Executors hereinafter named shall pay all my just debts, funeral and Testamentary expenses out of my estate.
2. I direct my Executors after my death to lease or rent my shop and premises on Inglis St. Truro purchased from the Hon Thos McKay to the best advantage until the first day of May A.D. 1913.
I also direct my Executors after my death to lease or rent my printing plant and outfit in the Loughead Building Inglis St. Truro, until the said first day of May, 1913, and it is my desire that the said printing plant and outfit shall be rented or leased to my grandson Neilson T. Mills, providing he pays the rents promptly and attends to the printing business in Truro until the date above mentioned. But of the said Neilson T. Mills fails or refuses to pay his rents promptly or fails to attend the printing business in Truro then my executors shall rent said printing plant and outfit in a manner satisfactory to them.
3. I direct my Executors to apply the rents from my said shop and printing plant and outfit, after payment of taxes and expenses in connection with said shop towards the reduction of the Mortgage now on my said shop on Inglis St. Truro.
4. After the said first day of May 1913 I tis my will that the said printing plant and outfit and the said shop on Inglis St. Truro shall become the property of my grandson Neilson T. Mills absolutely, To have and To hold the same to him his heirs and assigns forever.
4. I give devise and bequeath to my grandchildren Robert C. Mills and Muriel Mills when they respectively arrive at the age of twenty one years as follows –
To Robert C. Mills the property in the Town of Pictou, known as the Taylor Cottage and all the lands and the three fields thereto attached situate between Taylor and Martha Streets: also all those certain lots of land belonging to me in Melroseville in the said Town of Pictou: also the lot of land and house owned by me in Halifax City, being No. 103 Gerrish St. Halifax..
To Muriel Mills the Water Street property and premises known as the “Mills House” in the West end of the Town of Pictou: also the two and one-half acre field on the River John Road in the Town of Pictou.
I direct and empower my Executors to lease or rent said properties and to use the income towards the education and support of the above named respective legatees until they arrive at the age of twenty-one years.
In the event of the death of either of them the said Robert C. Mills and Muriel Mills before arriving at the age of twenty-one years I will and direct that his or her share shall go to the survivor of them.
5. I give and bequeath to my grand-daughters Lilliam Mills and Mentowese Mills, share and share alike all my jewelry stock, fancy goods, shop furniture, safe, shop fixtures and everything appertaining to m jewelry business, the same to be sold by my Executors to the best advantage and the proceeds invested in reliable securities or in deposit receipts, and I direct my Executors to pay the income or interest arising therefrom towards the education and support of the Lillian Mills and Mentowese Mills until they respectively arrive at the age of twenty-one years, and as each arrives at such age to pay her the principal and accrued interest if any. If either should die before arriving at the age of twenty-one years I will and direct that the whole amount shall go to the survivor.
6. I direct that all my book debts, insurances monyes and other assets not hereinbefore mentioned shall be used for the payment of all my liabilities and mortgages, other that the mortgage on my Inglis St. Truro property, and the balance if any there be, I devise and bequeath to my grandson Neilson T. Mills, when he arrives at the age of twenty-one years, and in the event of his death before he arrives at the age of twenty-one years to Robert C. Mills and Muriel Mills or the survivor of them.
7. I nominate constitute and appoint as my Executors Wm. M. Ferguson of Truro, N.S. Barrister, Mrs. Frederick Cole of Pictou, N.S. wife of Frederick Cole, and the Empire Trust Co whose office is in Halifax, N.S. of this revoking all wills heretofore by me made. I declare this to be my last Will and Testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto my hand and seal subscribed and set this twenty-third day of July, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and seven.
