Estate of Robert Maxwell late of Saltsprings, Farmer, deceased, Testate

Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds

In the name of God, Amen.

Know all men by these presents that I Robert Maxwell, of Salt Springs, in the County of Pictou, Farmer, being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and publish this my last Will and testament.

And 1St. I give and bequeath to my daughter Eliza the sum of one dollar.

2nd. I give and bequeath to my son John I year Colt.

3rd. I give and bequeath to my son Hugh one heifer two years old.

4th. I give and bequeath to my daughter Barbara Ann the sum of one dollar.

5th. I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary the sum of one dollar.

6th. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Barbara the Homestead on which I now reside including the land bounded on the North by John Proudfoot’s land, on the South by the West river, on the west by William Maxwell’s land, on the East by Joh Proudfoot’s lands – containing sixty acres more or less. Also a lot of woodland containing 55 acres more or less – bounded on the west river abut three quarters of a mile from the homestead, to have ad to hold the same with the appurtenances to her the said Barbara Maxwell and to her heirs and assigns for her use and behoof. Also all the personal property not mentioned in the above will.

I appoint and ordain Messrs. William Maxwell West River, and John Proudfoot my Executors of this my last Will and testament.

In witness whereof I have hereunto Set my Sign and Seal and publish and declare this my last Will and testament in the presence of the witnesses named below, this the fourteenth day of May, one thousand Eight hundred and Eighty years.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of one page, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of Robert Maxwell, late of Saltsprings in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
