Estate of John Maxwell late of Westville, Merchant, deceased, Testate
Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds
This is the last Will and testament of me John Maxwell of Westville in the County of Pictou Merchant.
I appoint my son James D. Maxwell and George E. Munro both of Westville aforesaid to be the executors and trustees of this my Will.
I give all my real estate wheresoever situate to my son James D. Maxwell with the provision that the house I now reside in at Westville aforesaid shall be subject to the following comment, in favor of my wife, viz. My wife so long as she will live is to have the use o he south side of he house consisting of a room and closet on the first story and in the Southern part of the house and in addition to have two rooms upstairs on the South side of the house and over the rooms first mentioned, or in the alternative if interested of the part of the house above mentioned she, should she prefer those two rooms and a closet or the second story over the store then she is to have the use of these last mentioned rooms and closet, so long as she shall live, instead of the first mentioned rooms.
The bequest hereby given to my said wife s the be in lieu of Dower.
To my daughter Margaret G. I give and bequeath the sum of five dollars. To my daughter Bessie I give and bequeath the sum of five dollars.
I devise and bequeath all the balance of my real and personal property including the goods in the store at Westville and inexcluding my Life Insurance to my said son James D. Maxwell.
I give and bequeath to my said wife the articles of household furniture no in the home in which I reside, save the pictures now in the house.
The bequest to my said son James D. Maxwell is subject to my testamentary and funeral expenses and debts of all kinds and there charges my said executors are to pay out of that part of my estate bequeathed to him.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of One page and part of a page, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of John Maxwell, late of Westville in the County of Pictou, Merchant, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
Given under my hand at Pictou this 11th. day of April 1898.
