Estate of James McRae late of Pictou, Esquire, deceased, Testate
Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds
I James McRae of Pictou, in the County of Pictou and Province of Nova Scotia, Esquire, Do hereby make and publish this my last Will and testament.
I authorize and instruct the executors of this my will, to sell all my real Estate Situated in the west end of the Town of Pictou, to the best possible advantage and appropriate the proceeds in manner following, that is to say,
First To pay all my lawful debts. To invest the balance in some Bank or other safe investment the interest of which is to be paid in quarterly installments to my sister Annie McRae during her lifetime, said payment not to exceed Sixty Dollars per annum the balance of interest, if any over Sixty Dollars to be paid yearly in equal proportions to the institutions hereinafter mentioned, namely.
Secondly I give and bequeath the whole capital invested to the Presbyterian Church in Canada, at the death of my Sister, to be given in equal proportions for the following purposes namely French Evangelization, Foreign Missions, Home Mission, and Halifax College Endowment fund.
Thirdly I give and bequeath my library namely the "Pastor's library" Twenty five volumes - "The Evangelical family library" Sixteen Volumes, in all forty one volumes, or what remains of them- at the time of delivery to the Young Men's' Christian association in the Town of Pictou, for the free use of all its members Subject to the rules and regulations of the said association.
Fourthly and lastly I bequeath the remainder of my personal property to my said sister Annie McRae.
I hereby appoint John Ross, Confectioner, Pictou and David Logan, Grocer, Pictou, to be the Executor of this my last Will and testament.
All former Wills and Settlements by me made are hereby revoked and annulled.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of one & a half pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of James McRae, late of Pictou in the County of Pictou, Esquire, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
Given under my hand at Pictou this 1st. day of April A.D. 1889.
