Estate of John McQuarrie late of Scotch Hill, Farmer, deceased, Testate
Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds
In the name of God, Amen.
I John McQuarrie of Scotch Hill, Pictou, Province of Nova Scotia, having come to an advance age, but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be given to God, and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, Do make and ordain this my last Will and testament, that is to say, principally and first of all, I give and recommend my Soul into the hand of Almighty God that gave it, and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors, nothing doubting but at the General resurrection, I shall receive the same again, by the mighty power of God.
And as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me, in this life, I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.
I give and bequeath to my son John, all my estate, consisting of lands, buildings, stock, farm implements and all privileges and appurtenances belonging thereto to be possessed by him the said John forever.
I order my beloved daughters Christina, Jessie, Catherine, Margaret, Amelia, Sarah, and Gracy if unmarried at my death a home and a maintenance if needed, on my Estate, until such time as they are married, at which time, I order them severally one cow a piece.
I order Betsy and Lexie, two of my married daughters a cow a pieces, or value in money. I order Malcolm my son one Cow from my estate.
I exclude my married daughters, Mary and Flora from my Estate except one shilling sterling.
I constitute make and ordain Malcolm (my son) and Angus McQuarrie (my son in law) to be the executors of this my last Will and testament, and I do utterly disallow, revoke, and disannul all and every other former Testaments, wills, legacies, bequests, and Executors by me in any wise before named, willed and bequeathed, rarifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and testament.
In witness whereof I hereunto Set my hand and Seal this eight day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Seventy six.
Signed John McQuarrie L.S.
