Estate of Robert McPherson late of McLellan’s Mountain
Copy of Will
This is the last Will and Testament of me Robert McPherson of Glen McLellan’s Mountain in the County of Pictou made this Twenty first day of February, in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight hundred and Seventy two.
First, I grant, order, and bequeath unto my son John and his heirs forever, all that part of my farm lot at the Glen that lieth westward of a Blaze made across the said farm by me, which Blaze nearly runs north and South following the direction f the highlands lying to the east of the Glen Brook, with all the buildings thereon, with also all the stock, farming instruments and household Furniture that may be on the place at the time of me decease. Subject however, to the conditions hereafter named, that is to say.
That he my said son John, shall lease the one half of the dwelling house an cellar in the possession of, and for the Sole use of my wife Margaret McPherson during her lifetime. That he shall also deliver over to my said wife yearly and every year during her life, for maintenance Three (300) hundred pounds of Flour, Three (300) pounds of Oatmeal, Twenty five pounds of Pot Barley, Ten bushels of potatoes, Fifty pounds of Beef, and Forty pounds of Pork, and the Sol use of the garden. That he my said son John shall likewise keep one milk cow, one heifer, and four Sheep for my said wife, providing winter and summer feed for them, also, he the said John shall provide sufficient quantities of fuel winter and summer made ready for use.
Further if my daughter, Mary will survive me unmarried, and she gets married after my decease, I order my said son John, to give her ne Cow, and six Sheep, one Bed and Bedding, but if she remains unmarried then I order my said son John to support and maintain her during her life comfortably according to her degree in life.
Second, I grant, order, and bequeath unto my son Donald, his heirs and assigns the remaining [art of my farm at the Glen, that is to say, that part there of which lieth to the eastward of the foresaid Blaze, provided that he the said Donald shall settle down and reside upon it, but in the event that my said son Donald shall not take up his abode and reside upon the said land, then and in such case I grant and bequeath the said land that is to say, all the part of my said farm that lieth eastwards of the foresaid Blaze to my said son John and his heirs, he the said John paying the sum of One Hundred and twenty ($120) dollars in Cash to the said Donald, and the sum of forty ($40) dollars more to my son John William.
Third, I nominate and appoint my said son John McPherson and Donald Cameron Angus’s son my executors.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of two and a quarter pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of Robert McPherson, late of McLellan’s Mountain in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
Given under my hand at Pictou this 3rd. day of March A.D. 1880.
