Estate of John McPherson late of Gairloch, Farmer, deceased, Testate
Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds
In the name of God, Amen.
The twenty third day of October in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and Seventy three.
I John McPherson of Gairloch, in the County of Pictou, being infirm in body but of perfect mind and Judgement thanks be to Almighty God, calling into mind the mortality of my body and believing that it is appropriate unto all men once to die, Do make and ordain this my last Will and testament, that is to say Principally and First of all I give and recommend my Soul unto God that gave it, and my body I commit to the earth to be buried with a decent Christian burial nothing doubting but at the general resurrection, I shall receive the same again, by the Almighty Power of God, and as touching such worldly Estate, as I possess in this life I give and bequeath in the following manner namely,
1St. I give and bequeath to my son Alexander McPherson Forty dollars currency to be levied of my estate and paid to him by my son Donald McPherson within twelve months after my death.
2nd. I give and bequeath to my daughter Peggy McPherson wife of Angus Baillie of West River Twenty five dollars currency to be levied of my property, and also paid to her by my son Donald McPherson in twelve months after my death.
3rd. I give and bequeath to my son Donald McPherson all and Singular my lands, messuages, and tenements, with all the appurtenances, also the stock on the farm consisting of Horses, Cattle and Sheep, with all the farming Implements and other carriages together with the Household furniture and other Goods and Chattels such as the joinering Tools, and also all y credits, I hereby give and will to the said Donald McPherson, The same to be freely possessed and enjoyed by him, without let, hindrance, or incumbrances whatever.
And I do utterly revoke and disannul all and every former Testaments, Wills, Legacies, by me in anywise before named willed or bequeathed, ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament, and to see that all things contained in evert item of the above may be duly executed.
I do hereby nominate and appoint Murdoch McKenzie and Alexander McKenzie (William’s son) both of Gairloch in the County of Pictou, aforesaid.

In the Court of Probate of Wills
I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of one and a half pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of John McPherson, late of Gairloch in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
Given under my hand at Pictou this 28th. day of July A.D. 1883.
