Estate of William McMillan late of Bridgeville, Minister of the Gospel, deceased, Testate
Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds
I William McMillan of Bridgeville East River, in the County of Pictou and Province of Nova Scotia, Minister of the Gospel, Do hereby make and Publish this my last Will and testament.
1 - I give and bequeath to my daughter Julia, my property at Bridgeville, on the East side of the East River, consisting of home, barn, store, and one acre more or less, also the piano, also 30 Vols. out of my library, including Clarke's Commentarys & Barnes - also my gold watch and chain, also Eight hundred ($800.00) dollars to her to have and to hold & to her heirs and assigns forever, also my large Bible with clasps, also my blood stone ring & gold penholder.
II - I give and bequeath to my son, William Kennedy, Chalmers' Encyclopedia 10 Vols. The Treasury of David 7 Vols. and 30 additional Vols. out of my library, my writing desk, my fowling piece, my ivory headed cane, my field glasses, my fur coat, also Five hundred ($500.00) dollars, also my silver pencil case, also a large family Bible.
III - I give and bequeath to my adopted daughter Linda Richardson McMillan, Matthew Henry's Commentary 5 Vols., Ryle's Commentary 7 Vols., also Four hundred ($400.00) dollars.
IV - I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Jane, my homestead farm at Bridgeville, on the east side of the East River, in the County of Pictou, bounded on the East by the East River, on the north by lands of JOhn Fraser, Carriage Maker, West by land of Alexr. McDonald and South by land of Robert Chisholm, containing one hundred and Seventy five acres, more or lefs, to have and to hold the same for herself, her heirs and assigns forever, together with houses, outhouses, re. I also give and bequeath to my beloved wife Jane my farming implements, my carriages, Sleighs, harness, house furniture and Five hundred dollars in Cash, also my stock, excepting one Cow.
V - I give and bequeath to my Sister Mizie the sum of One hundred dollars.
VI - I give and bequeath to my Sister Jane one Cow.
VII - I give and bequeath to my brother Kenneth my bed clothed, my shoes and hats, and my riding saddle.
VIII - I give and bequeath to my esteemed friend John McDonald Roy the Statute of Nova Scotia, and of the Dominion of Canada, my haycutter, and cedar headed cane, and to Jessie, his wife, ten dollars.
IX - I decree and ordain that if my property at Bridgeville E.R. on the East side of the river, be sold before my death, that instead Julia shall receive four hundred dollars in addition to the eight hundred dollars named under heading I.
X - I appoint and ordain, if my wife should die intestate, that my homestead farm shall be the joint property of my son & daughter William K. and Julia H. each of them to give Linda fifty dollars if she be living, this heading or clause X to be null and void if my wife make a will.
XI - I appoint and ordain that a sum not exceeding One hundred and fifty dollars ($150.00) be applied to the erecting of a neat granite monument to serve for my wife and myself.
XII - I appoint and ordain the residue of my personal estate be equally divided among the surviving members of my family.
XIII - I appoint and ordain my wife Jane C. McMillan and John McDonald Roy, executrix and executor of this my last Will and testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto Set my Sign and Seal this fifteenth day of August 1887..

Instead of Eight hundred as above mentioned Fifteen hundred to my daughter Julia. Instead of Four hundred abovementioned one Hundred Dollars to my adopted daughter Linda - instead of one hundred dollars, three Hundred dollars to my sister Marjory.
I give and bequeath one hundred dollars to my sister Jane.
Instead of my wife Jane, I appoint my daughter Julia to be my executrix with Jno. McDonald.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of two & a half pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of William McMillan, late of Bridgeville in the County of Pictou, Minister of the Gospel, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
Given under my hand at Pictou this 9th. day of March A.D. 1889.
