Certified Copy of Will for Reg of Deeds Pictou
In the Name of God, Amen.
I, William McLeod of the Middle River in the County of Pictou and Province of Nova Scotia, Farmer, being now weak and infirm of body but of good and perfect memory and knowing the uncertainty of time: do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament.
And as touching such worldly effects as God has been pleased to bless me in with I give, devise and bequeath in the manner following: -
I give devise and bequeath to Nancy McLeod my dear and loving wife for maintenance during her natural lifetime ten dollars a month to be given her each month. Also to cows to be well kept for her sole use and benefit both summer and winter without any labor on her part. Likewise she is to have and to occupy the one half of my dwelling house and ne half of all the furniture, beds and bedding included. And to have the use of a horse and carriage when she requires it for her business and pleasure, Also a servant girl to be kept to her hand when required: She is to be provided with proper fuel summer and winter during her natural lifetime.
Further, I give, devise and bequeath to said Nancy McLeod four hundred dollars, and she has by these presents full power previous to her demise to give or will the before mentioned stock, furniture and money she may then have to any person or persons she desires.
I give, devise and bequeath to Daniel McKenzie my nephew of Four Mile Brook the farm on which I reside situated on the West side of the Middle River, bounded on the East by said Middle River, on the North by lands of John G. Munro, on the West by lands of Simon McLeod and Daniel Murray. On the South by the road from Pleasant Valley to Middle River, containing two hundred and forty acres more or less. Together with all the improvements, buildings and appurtenances thereto belonging.
This is to render null and void any Will or Testaments by me at any time heretofore made.
And I hereby I nominate William McLeod of Pleasant Valley, farmer, and Donald McLeod of Fox Brook, millwright, sole Executors and Administrators of this my last Will and Testament.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and affix my Seal this nineteenth day of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and two.
