Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds
In the name of God, Amen.
I John McLeod, of New Lairg, Farmer, being weak of Feeble state of state of Body, though of sound mind and considering the uncertainty of this life, Do ordain this to be my last Will and testament.
First and principally, I commend my Soul to God, who gave it, and my body to be buried in such decent manner as my executors hereafter mentioned may see proper.
With regard then to the temporal property with which it hath pleased God to bless me, I dispose of in the following manner,
I give devise and bequeath to my son John William, all my real estate and personal property subject however to the following restrictions and conditions, viz.
My son John William must assume and pay all my legal debts, He must also give my wife Isabella her choice in any part of the house. Together with a maintenance and living comfortable and suitable to her condtion and sphere in life, and for the period of her natural life time, He must also give to my wife Isabella a Cow and five sheep, and keep them on the property for her use, and also the use of Horse and carriage when required.
He must give to my son Neil Isaac a Colt and keep him on the property until he is four years old if required.
He must also further give my Daughter Sarah Jane, a comfortable and suitable home so long as require4d by her. It being understood that she will require it only while she remains single.
He must also give to my daughter Sarah Jane One Hundred and fifty dollars when required, also to my daughter Mary Ann one cow, and to my daughter Elizabeth one Cow. He must give the Foreign Missions - Twenty Dollars.
I now hereby appoint my beloved wife Isabella Administratrix and Wallace Munro and Neil Matheson Administrators of this my last Will and Testament.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of one page & part of a page, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of John McLeod, late of New Lairg in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
Given under my hand at Pictou this 15th. day of August A.D. 1885.
